Job Overview:
As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), your primary responsibility is to provide basic care to patients under the supervision of licensed nurses or other medical professionals. CNAs play a crucial role in ensuring patients’ comfort, safety, and well-being in healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Help patients with mobility, including transferring them to and from beds or wheelchairs.
Vital Signs Monitoring: Measure and record patients’ vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and respiration rate. Report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
Assistance with Medical Procedures: Support healthcare professionals during medical procedures by preparing equipment, positioning patients, and providing emotional support to patients and their families.
Nutrition and Hydration: Assist patients with eating and drinking, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition and hydration. Monitor dietary intake and report any concerns to the nursing team.
Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep patient rooms and common areas clean and organized. Perform routine cleaning tasks such as changing bed linens, emptying trash, and sanitizing surfaces to prevent infections.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient care activities, including observations, treatments provided, and changes in patients’ conditions. Follow established protocols for documenting information.
Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Provide updates on patients’ progress, relay concerns or requests from patients to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications and Skills:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from an accredited program.
CPR and First Aid certification may be required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients.
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Physical stamina and ability to lift and move patients as needed.
